Brendan Maher, Photo Museum Ireland’s Artform Development & Collection Manager, will present an informal session designed to help photographers archive their work in a sustainable manner.

Brendan Maher is Photo Museum Ireland’s Artform Development & Collection Manager. He is taking
the lead role in the management of the Museum’s Collection to MSPI standards. He has led the
digitization of the Akihiko Okamura archive, working closely with Masako Toda and the artist’s
estate in Japan, and with the international curators including Pauline Vermare (Brooklyn Museum)
and Sean O’Hagan (Observer/Guardian newspaper). Brendan also undertook the scanning and
post-production of Okamura’s files for the international photobook publication by Atelier EXB
(Paris). Brendan was formerly Assistant Images & Licensing Officer at the National Gallery of
Ireland, where he led the management of image sourcing and copyright clearances. Prior to this,
he was a photography digitisation and archival expert at Archives Ireland where he worked as
Photographic Collection Manager on the U2 Archive. He has unique expertise in the printing and
management of artists’ workflow and archives.
